U.S. to Fund Pro-American Publicity in Iraqi Media

Here’s an article in the Washington Post that is a must-read!

The Defense Department will pay private U.S. contractors in Iraq up to $300 million over the next three years to produce news stories, entertainment programs and public service advertisements for the Iraqi media in an effort to “engage and inspire” the local population to support U.S. objectives and the Iraqi government.

The new contracts — awarded last week to four companies — will expand and consolidate what the U.S. military calls “information/psychological operations” in Iraq far into the future, even as violence appears to be abating and U.S. troops have begun drawing down.

    Priorities are clearly off–one again.

I am not surprise to know that they would spend millions of dollars to attempt to BOOST their reputation instead of taking that money and putting it to use in better ways to BENEFIT the IRAQI people!!

Once again, US is wasting time and resources –> It’s all about them, its about their reputation and their usual tactic surrounding the need to brainwash society (i.e. Iraqis and Allies) in thinking they are doing what is best for the Iraqi people and Global community. Since the US Government is all about spending (what isn’t theirs to spend), they should find better purpose….take this money and invest it in “boosting” the Iraqi reputation (locally and globally).
Show the potential(s) of Good Iraq…. Help people “understand” the culture and help Iraqis embrace their heritage and exhibit via the media what future prosperity can be like if the “work together” …. The scope of this should be about the Iraqis and their fututre, not the US and their desire to be liked and understood, for no one will ever understand their objectives! And we wonder why we have a financial crisis spreading globally — cause of stupid tactics and objectives such as this that become useless and only spread the image of Greed and Stupidity! This truly shows how “out-of-touch” the US with reality and how it’s effecting millions of people (esp. their own – Americans).

When will they ever learn… you cannot buy good publicity in the long-run. Its all about concrete, justifiable and honest ACTIONS!
